WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO), the first Catholic Republican elected to the United States Senate by the state of Missouri, passed a resolution by unanimous consent congratulating Pope Leo XIV on his election as the 267th Bishop of Rome, becoming the first ever pope born in the United States.
