Senator Schmitt Praises Trump Nominees for Missouri U.S. Attorneys
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) released the following statement after President Trump tapped two qualified Missourians to serve as U.S. Attorneys for the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri. Both nominees will assume their role as interim U.S. Attorney for their respective district on August 1st.
“President Trump is the President of law and order, and I’m glad to see him select two exceptional interim U.S. Attorneys who will protect Missourians’ rights and promote law and order in Missouri’s Eastern and Western Districts. When I served as Missouri Attorney General, Thomas Albus played a key role as First Assistant in my Attorney General office as we worked to defend the Show Me State from big government overreach, and I’m impressed with Matthew Price’s extensive prosecutorial experience and leadership abilities. I’m thankful for President Trump’s attention to Missouri. Albus and Price are law men, through and through. It is my expectation that each will do a great job, and I look forward to seeing them swiftly confirmed,” said Senator Schmitt.
The interim appointments include:
- Thomas Albus, who worked for Senator Schmitt during his tenure as Missouri’s Attorney General as his First Assistant and served for 17 years as an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Missouri, to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.
- Matthew Price, an experienced corporate lawyer who previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney, as a State Prosecutor, and as a Chief Legal Officer for a major Missouri company, to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
