Senator Schmitt Hosts Farm Bill Roundtable, Tours Local Missouri Farm

WASHINGTON –
Today, Senator Eric Schmitt released a statement following his farm bill listening tour last week with Senator John Boozman and the Missouri Farm Bureau:

“Friday was a fantastic opportunity to sit down and listen to folks back in Missouri. It was great to hear what Missouri farmers and ranchers would like to see in this year’s Farm Bill. Both Senator Boozman and I gained crucial insight from conversations with folks from the Missouri Farm Bureau and commodity groups, which I will take back to Washington as the Farm Bill is being considered,” said Senator Eric Schmitt.

“I appreciate Senator Schmitt’s invitation to visit with Missouri’s agriculture community to hear firsthand how their experiences can help shape this critical legislation. Just as we’ve heard at other state visits, Missouri producers stressed that the Farm Bill cannot be a one-size-fits-all solution. It must reflect the reality that farmers in different states and different regions have different needs. The valuable input we received from Missouri’s producers will help inform our efforts to better support those who work tirelessly to ensure we have the safest, most affordable, and most abundant supply of food in the world,” said Senator John Boozman.

“We are grateful to Senator Eric Schmitt and Senator John Boozman for their thoughtful consideration of proposals to improve the farm safety net through the upcoming farm bill. Passage of a new farm bill will be no easy task, but we are confident these two Senators, in partnership with their colleagues, will represent the interests of farmers and ranchers in our state and around the country. Thank you to Senator Schmitt for taking the lead in coordinating this event!” said Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins.
