Senator Schmitt Attends White House Ceremony for Signing of Rescissions Package

Schmitt Led the Package through the Senate

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) issued the following statement after attending the White House signing ceremony for the rescissions package he led through the Senate. The package cuts $9 billion in wasteful spending, reorients foreign policy initiatives to serve American interests, and ends taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS.

“President Trump promised to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and restore fiscal responsibility and discipline. He is delivering on the promise. The rescissions package President Trump signed into law eliminates $9 billion in wasteful spending, defunds foreign policy initiatives that do no serve American interests, and ends taxpayer funding for NPR and PBS, which serve as mouthpieces for the left’s radical ideas. American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund woke foreign aid or captured media institutions; their tax dollars should go to improving our nation and advancing American interests. I was proud to lead the rescissions package through the Senate and applaud President Trump for his leadership and commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars,” said Senator Schmitt.

Last week, Senator Schmitt successfully led the rescissions package through the Senate.
