Senator Eric Schmitt Discusses Joe Biden’s Autopen Presidency, Calls for Passage of President Trump’s Rescissions Package on the Faulkner Focus

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) appeared on Fox News’ Faulkner Focus to discuss the ongoing investigation into Joe Biden’s autopen presidency and the rescissions package he is leading in the Senate.

Watch the full interview HERE.

Senator Schmitt on the Unfolding Investigation into Biden Administration’s Use of the Autopen:

“This scandal keeps unfolding. I chaired a Committee about a month ago where we started an investigation into this to try and understand what exactly happened and what the implications are. What happens in a scenario where the President of the United States isn’t of sound mind or didn’t authorize pardons and commutations? The conclusion from legal experts is that they are null and void. Now we are left with a scandal that, in my view, is bigger than Watergate. I think it’s going to continue to unfold as these pardons that were issued by the President – certainly in the waning days of his Presidency – come into question now because there is no way Joe Biden was approving them. And if he is saying that there is a class of people he would like to maybe pardon – these are very individual decisions. Just like a jury verdict is for one person, a pardon is related to a single individual. Again, this is going to continue to unfold and the Democrats don’t want to talk about it. But this is an important thing for our country, that a commander-in-chief is actually in charge of their faculties and making these kinds of decisions.”

Senator Schmitt on Leading President Trump’s Rescissions Package through the Senate:

“$9.4 billion is the rescission package that President Trump sent forward. $1.1 billion of that is to make sure we stop taxpayer funding for NPR, an ideologically captured institution that has totally biased coverage. Eighty-seven of their editorial staff are Democrats, 0.0 percent are Republicans. We all know how biased they are. Taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be going toward NPR. And then you have the other remaining $8 billion for foreign aid. We’ve seen that the abuses are staggering. DEI trainings in Burma. Guatemalan sex changes. I just think of the people back home that work hard every day and send taxpayer dollars here. They don’t want their money spent on that. This is a very important thing for us to do. I’m handling the rescissions package on the Senate floor. We could have a procedural vote today to move to debate on the bill and probably vote on it tomorrow. We have to get it done by Friday. It is a very important part of President Trump’s agenda. We have nominations, then we had reconciliation, now we have rescissions. We need to deliver on behalf of the American people and show we have the guts to get rid of this wasteful spending and help restore trust in Congress again.”

“We are working with Senator Collins who had some questions. We are working with a couple of other senators. We want to make sure we answer all their questions. But at the end of the day, I’m confident we’ll get there. This is a big part of President Trump’s agenda and a really important part of what people voted for. They saw the abuse of the Biden administration and the woke ideology that they exported across the world with their money, and they want us to take action on it. We have a chance to prove we have the intestinal fortitude to do that. And we have to do it this week.”
