Senator Schmitt Issues Statement on the One Year Anniversary of the Failed Assassination Attempt Against President Donald Trump
Plans to Introduce Resolution Marking the Anniversary, Condemning Political Violence, Honoring Corey Comperatore
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the failed assassination attempt against President Donald J. Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania:

“One year ago today, the nation watched in horror as a deranged gunman attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump. On that day, President Trump survived only by the grace of God and our nation stood at the precipice of a catastrophic event that would’ve altered the course of history. Yet, in the face of unimaginable adversity, President Trump stood unbroken and unbowed, fist raised, face bloodied, promising to continue to ‘fight, fight, fight’ to restore America’s greatness – a promise he is fulfilling in his second term. God bless President Trump and God bless the United States of America.
“Today, we also remember and honor the life of Corey Comperatore, a devoted veteran and firefighter who did not hesitate to give his life protecting his family. May his courage and sacrifice never be forgotten.,” Senator Schmitt concluded.
Senator Schmitt plans to introduce a resolution marking the one-year anniversary, condemning the attempts against President Trump’s life, condemning violence against elected leaders and honoring the victims of the shooting.
