Senator Schmitt Hails Senate Passage of President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill
Schmitt Legislation Included to Support Americans with Disabilities
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) released the following statement after voting in support of the One Big Beautiful Bill:
“I proudly voted to move forward with President Trump’s America First agenda today. The One Big Beautiful Bill will prevent the largest tax hike in American history, secure our border, fund deportations, create American jobs, and keep our country safe. This is a win for families across Missouri, and I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump to usher in America’s Golden Age,” said Senator Eric Schmitt.
The bill included:
- Tax cuts that will result in Missouri families seeing take home pay increase between $6,900 to $11,600.
- Senator Schmitt’s ENABLE Act, which enhances ABLE (529a) accounts. These accounts are tax-advantaged savings plans for individuals with disabilities. The bill permanently extends key provisions related to these accounts and increases the saver’s credit, providing greater financial security and opportunities for people with disabilities and their families.
- Senator Schmitt’s Helping Communities with Better Support Act, which expands home and community-based services to those with disabilities. This provision will cut multi-year waiting lists and allow thousands of individuals with disabilities to access care they need through home and community-based services.
- Senator Schmitt’s provision to increase the cap for 529 plans from $10,000 to $20,000 allowing parents to invest more in their children’s primary and secondary education. This doubles the current maximum that parents can use in 529 plans, as well as expands eligible expenditures.
- Senator Schmitt’s Educational Choice for Children Act, which provides a charitable donation incentive for individuals and businesses to fund scholarship awards for students to cover expenses related to K-12 public and private education.
- Senator Schmitt’s effort to make the 20% pass-through deduction permanent for Missouri small businesses.
